Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery presents Cabinets of Curiosity or Wunderkammern, these were the sixteenth and seventeenth century personal collections of wealthy aristocratic men. These collections were often compiled during their grand tours of Europe, or through their connection to the discovery and conquest of the new world. These cabinets were works of art within themselves, displaying not only beautiful and rare objects, but also the strange, primitive or curious. Cabinets of Curiosity features invited, local artists interpretation of a modern day cabinet of curiosities, by presenting to gallery visitors their own personal collections of items. The artists who contributed to this exhibition are Alice McLaughlin, Ann Grocott, Catherine McCue Boes, Caryl Plant, Christine Turner, Clinton Cross, Jennifer McDuff, Jenny Gilbertson, Jo Williams and Sue Hutton.
